She's survived plenty to GET to this birthday. Hurricane Katrina and the failure of the federal levees, for example: she wrote about that in her journal hurricanegrrl. She now lives in Austin, and is a striking storyteller. Has worthy stories from her life to tell, some wonderful, some stimulating, some enraging.
She is also a fervent supporter of the resistance in Iran. She's very much on the side of the people trying to repair the damage caused by President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, and has made sure to keep passing along news of the struggle in their country. She speaks better and more eloquently about this than I've managed to; please read what she says.
Meanwhile, life keeps happening. The proof: birthdays. Which I hope are as good as possible. Including hers. Especially hers.
Happy birthday, idiomagic. *salutes you*
