Thank you, the beautifully mad people at KINK FM

For at least the third time, Portland's KINK FM 101.9 is going to spend a while playing its entire playlist. In alphabetical order. Unless something's changed, that means it'll start with "Abacab" by Genesis and end with "Zoot Suit Riot" by Cherry Poppin' Daddies.

I approve of this programming madness. I'm enough of a music/radio dork/geek/doofus/whatever that I've hoped the station would do it again.

I first heard the station do it in November 2001. Took three weeks, and caused some music sets that were nothing but, say, songs with titles starting with "Angel" or "I." It caused song juxtapositions that may not ever even happen on people's iPods. The station's done it once since then, though I figure it shortened its playlist between the two times because the next time it took two weeks.

KINK A to Z. Starts Monday. Ends sometime this year. I'll enjoy it.
