A sign of my eclectic-ness: Here are the CDs I'm currently borrowing from the library:

* Best of Blur: How did it take me this long to actually listen to them? Except for "Song Two," which could fall off the face of the earth, this is groove-a-licious. And now I can finally really learn the lyrics to "Girls and Boys"...

* Johnny Cash at Folsom Prison: I like that Cash tells the inmates that the concert's being recorded for an album, "so you can't say 'hell' or 'shit' or anything like that." Or the inmate who applauds the song about adultery.

* Best of Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds: Yep: I like Tom Waits, so (as more than one person told me) it stood to reason I'd like Cave. (I like Leonard Cohen, too, so there's another similar talent.) I was already impressed with Johnny Cash's stripped-down cover of "The Mercy Seat," and the original is soaring and disturbing simultaneously. Please tell me someone's played "Do You Love Me?" at a wedding, at least a wedding where smartasses are getting married. He did a duet on "Where the Wild Roses Grow" with Kylie Minogue, so I can say "Wow; I actually liked a Kylie Minogue song." Plus Cave has a face that could so easily be the basis for a Star Trek alien...

* Meat Loaf: Bat Out Of Hell: Oh, hush. It's actually at times not too far removed from what Springsteen was singing in the Seventies (especially the first song). I knew that album had wormed into my brain when I started psychoanalyzing the relationship in "Paradise By the Dashboard Light"!
