Q: A lot of writers borrow elements from their own life experiences when writing. Have you had any life experiences in which you have had to deal with snakes on a plane? How about Samuel L. Jackson? Did you learn snake-handling, how to fly a plane, or did you release hundreds of deadly poisonous snakes onto an airliner above the Pacific Ocean in order to better understand the experience?
Christa Faust: I actually do have a fair amount of experience with snakes. I’ve handled both venomous and nonvenomous snakes. I kept a pet Burmese Python when I was younger. The toughest thing for me about this project was the fact that I have no fear of snakes whatsoever. It was a bit of a reach for me to try and make them really scary.
Oh, and I swear all the fucking time too, so that was a big help.
She's interviewed about her novelization of the upcoming movie Snakes on a Plane here. Glory in her geeking out about the motherfucking snakes on the motherfucking plane!
