The payoff with Socko just makes me laugh

Oh, I knew this pissed people off back in the day, when the World Wrestling Federation (now World Wrestling Entertainment) played this ad in the 1999 Super Bowl:



And now I've laughed probably harder than I should have at the alternate version of that ad:



Gee, I feel like I should make some grand point about shock value and why the WWF did this and why people reacted as they did -- and now I am wondering where the alternate version actually aired -- but this? This just makes my brain short-circuit somehow. No grand point, unless you can come up with one.

And I'm glad I know that Mick Foley and Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson are genuinely good people. (I love that someone who played a character as deranged as Mankind is someone gentle who's committed to helping people.)

Still: the alternate? Whoa. They Went There.
