Walk.

A few miles of forest path, covered in two-and-a-half hours of hiking, is below the cut. I had the tools and the talent (and the time) to hike yesterday, so I chose a hike I'd never been on, in SW Portland from the foot of Marquam Hill (below OHSU, the hospital where I used to work) to Washington Park, where the Oregon Zoo is, via Council Crest. That's several hundred feet from top to bottom: Council Crest is officially 1.014 feet above sea level. It was a good, if muddy, walk, but I had boots and jeans. And never slipped.

Another angle on that angled house.	The top of Council Crest, just over 1,000 feet elevation. Likely the highest point in Portland. Early last century, what was here? An amusement park.

And, zooming in, a bird I hadn't noticed when snapping the picture. White strip near the top is the Columbia River.	Fremont Bridge, a bridge as old as I am, as seen from Council Crest. Upper right is the new tower at Emanuel Hospital, where I was born in 1973 by the way.
