Wish me luck.

I am going to make my second attempt at reading Moby-Dick.

Apparently I am in the mood for 19th-century language opulence.

I'll read a copy I bought used and cheap years ago -- I knew borrowing (and renewing (and, maybe, renewing and renewing)) from the library might, might, be a little maddening. It's the copy that Alicia borrowed for a while; she was impressed with the book. I can read it at a slower pace, if needed. And read less-opulent books at the same time, depending on my mood.

This may take a year, like my reading of Geek Love by Katherine Dunn. This may take most of a year, like my finally reading all of my college copy of Collected Poetry and Prose of John Dryden. This may not take; I'm allowed to start a book, reconsider it, and go "Never mind." But I won't know without trying.

Let's see.
