A future bridge, near where I live

Today, construction workers are installing the first parts of a new overpass at SE 17th and Powell, about ten blocks from where I live. This will carry the future Portland-to-Milwaukie MAX light rail through my neighborhood, and also reconnect that part of 17th northbound with Powell.

I photographed this from a pedestrian bridge over the existing railroad tracks, which the MAX will parallel there. This bridge will eventually be taken down; it's in the way of the future MAX tracks. I haven't heard for sure if there will be a replacement pedestrian bridge or other form of crossing for the tracks there.

I'm grateful that I'm at least a few blocks removed from construction. Still, it's been neat watching the progress.
