Paint has a sting-smell. Clears (you hope) the sinuses,
Doesn't clear (you hope) the thoughts --
-- fumes are bad, noted --
-- as you remake the space: walls, ceilings, notches where furnishings like knobs,
Fans and lights will be re-attached.
Later, when all is dry.
And, now, white. A start-color. On walls, a null-color.
And, next: visual stimulation, of (you should hope) your choosing.
What makes it, then, non-null,
A filled-in-blank that no longer feels blank.
