I let it in, like The Force

I'm glad Star Wars: The Force Awakens exists.

I'm glad Star Wars exists, and that it's still relevant and grabbing people's attention, thoughts and love.

I'm also glad the prequels exist. I like them, and revisit them, and I don't feel the need to be defensive about them. At worst I'm mixed-to-positive about The Phantom Menace. I like seeing this universe...

...and this new trilogy gives me the chance to watch without knowing What Happens Next. I successfully avoided almost any knowledge of The Force Awakens's plot beyond the three trailers, so when I walked into the Bagdad today, I went in knowing the least I'd known about a Star Wars film since 1980. Kind of freeing, that.

I'll be seeing The Force Awakens again. Maybe then I'll have more thoughts on what this film does, but for now...well, re-read this entry's first line.
