Whale fluke

Still going!

First off, the Yay List should have included Yay for The Incredibles and Yay for Morgan Freeman, especially in the audience when he was – what, was he fingering the statuette?

And second, wow, am I the only person who enjoyed Chris Rock? For me, he passed a basic test: he made me laugh, especially in the opening monologue. I think he lost some momentum as the show went on; but there wasn’t the chance for the sort of transcendent running joke like Jack Palance, Action Man in the 1992 Oscars (one of the best Academy Awards shows in my experience), and you can’t blame Rock for that. And come on, him saying “When I was a young girl growing up in Wales” got me. Really got me.

Supposedly (the rumor was), Robin Williams was to have sung a song Marc Shaiman wrote making fun of the alleged “outing” of SpongeBob SquarePants, but that got cut at the last minute (which would explain the tape over Williams’ mouth). So for people bitching about Rock being too cautious: spread the bitching around, people.

Okay. More ranting and raving later, maybe.
