Whale fluke

Glad I'm home and warm and dry

Surprisingly messy night for Portland. We didn't get much rain, but traffic was gummed up, as in "emergency vehicles in many places with lights and sirens going" gummed up. I even saw two cop cars on Terwilliger Blvd., sometimes driving on the left (a scary proposition on that road, though not as scary as it'd be on Sam Jackson Park Rd. nearby; you Portlanders know what I'm talking about); I've never seen cop cars up there before tonight.

I got home and nuked up a potato and cooked up chili (canned, but that works in a pinch) and got very warm. There. Much better.

A vague work thing

I won't go into much detail about my job on this blog, 'cause of confidentiality concerns, but I can say this:

Today, as I got an officemate to try to decipher what a doctor had dictated, it seems the doctor had repeatedly used a word for a bit of ear anatomy when he was talking about an operation on a woman's, um, not-ears. "That's the other end!" the officemate said.

I said what I wanted to say to that doctor: "You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means."
