Whale fluke

Oh, yeah, I was out Saturday

Partying happened Saturday in Eugene with me, my former girlfriend Alicia, and old friends:

About 20 of Alicia's friends visited, ate food and cake, and even listened to a singing telegram. We laughed and joked. Most of the kids, between 2 and 8 years old, were running around with that little-kid energy, spinning, jumping, running around with their arms waving, even throwing themselves at each other for hugs. Meanwhile, a two-month-old boy, Gavin, spent almost the entire party asleep while we fussed over him. Oh, cute, cute, cute.

At least four of us (including me and Larry, Alicia's boyfriend) took pictures; mine are waiting to be mailed to her. And later that day, I took Alicia back to her apartment, and we did our regular "lending library" where I left her a pile of books and DVDs, and she let me borrow from her own collection. She'll get to experience (among much else) Steve Martin essays, Joe R. Lansdale alternative history, "Sooj" Tucker music, and Richard Elfman's Forbidden Zone; I'll get to start Christopher Paolini's "Inheritance" Trilogy (Eragon awaits!) as well as see March of the Penguins. And then I was back in Portland (as documented) that night, smiling.
