Whale fluke

OK, so I didn't rest well. Had I been writing this earlier, I'd be adding *grumble grumbles*, mainly due to pain and to lack of sleep, but ibuprofen knocked out the shoulder ache that bothered me most of the night and I now feel reasonably decent.

My rental car is back to the rental place, which is good because later it might've floated away. We're getting storms with flood warnings in Northern Virginia. Stretches of at least three freeways have been closed so far this morning due to the weather; Cindy has weather radio on and plans to stay put.

Later I'll pick up most of my pictures from the wedding. I shot five color rolls and two black and white rolls; the type of B&W film I used can't be processed in the one-hour photo machines, so those'll have to wait. The young woman who helped me at the camera store last night when I dropped these off let me know the type of B&W film that can; it has "Process C-41" written on it. Duly noted for the future. Meanwhile, by tonight I'll have MOST of the shots, and this is good.

Cindy and the boys and I had fun this morning making towers out of foam blocks and running remote control cars into them, plus making Hot Wheels car leap off of a ramp.

Busy day, y0 (he said restfully)...

Sleep, eventually

Good and happy news: my wedding photos...have turned out well.

Those I can see so far, I mean. The five color rolls are developed, and I have a bag of 121 shots done up as double prints plus a photo CD with every shot on it. I'll have to wait to do the two black-and-white rolls until I'm home, but those can wait.

Now, the priority is getting through on the phone to Tarah's parents. Tarah and John are now on their way to China (!) for their honeymoon. They will see both Shanghai and Beijing, as well as the cliffs that are very soon to be flooded by the waters that'll rise behind the Three Gorges Dam. There will be photos of some of that honeymoon (not ALL of the honeymoon, you sickos!), and those will reach her parents later...but I now want to get my shots, too, to them. I need to know if I can drop by tomorrow.

I've been calling every five or so minutes for the last, oh, 90 minutes. Busy, followed by busy, followed by busy. They are hard to reach. It's now quarter to 10. I have a limited window for driving over to their place tomorrow (after borrowing a family vehicle, as my rental's back with the rental company), without causing too much family schedule disruption for both families. I'm venting a bit now. I'm also tired; this has been a LONG weekend and a long day, and I didn't sleep at all well last night.

The bad annoying news (look out, venting): one of the twins got into my wedding gift bag, which is in my room which he has been TOLD not to go into without my OK. The worst that happened is that he emptied a box of film Tarah got me and opened the bag of candy-covered almonds, but this stuff was with a wine bottle that he could've accidentally broken -- he's clumsier than I am -- so it could've been messier and annoying-er and possibly worse-er (agh! broken glass!). And getting take-out food involved a mistake. I ordered over the phone four dishes from a Mexican place...and the person taking my order thought I meant four dishes of the thing sister-in-law Cindy ordered PLUS three more dishes, making SEVEN entrees. Which means breakfast, lunch, dinner and next breakfast (and maybe even Second Breakfast, Elevenses, Dinner, Supper,...) will be Mexican. It's good that A) I like Mexican and B) I need fiber...

Oy! 9:56 p.m. edit!: After all those busy signals, I get through...and get their answering machine. (My first words on the message were "Oh, I'm sure someone's there...") OK, message is left for them to call me so we can firm up the delivery tomorrow, but I might simply go over there tomorrow without further notice because darn it, I want to make this happen!

More happy

I told you about Sunday morning's very wet photo excursion. I had taken two photos of Tarah and John under this huge freakin' horse statue next to the FTC Building in D.C. when I noticed water had splattered on the lens. I wiped it off and shot two more. But the water drops on one particular shot actually came out nicely dramatic. They add character! They're a nice touch!

Here's to happy accidents... (And soon, I hope, HERE'S TO A PROPER NIGHT'S SLEEP!)
