I'll leave you lonely/ Don't monkey with my business

I've had a moody morning (personal stuff, plus sad events that a friend's enduring) but the radio's helped me feel better: Greg Glover of 94.7 Alternative Portland is finishing an eight-song set of songs from the soundtrack to Donnie Darko:

Tears For Fears, "Head Over Heels"
Oingo Boingo, "Stay"
Duran Duran, "Notorious"
Joy Division, "Love Will Tear Us Apart"
Echo and the Bunnymen, "Killing Moon"
INXS, "Never Tear Us Apart"
The Church, "Under the Milky Way Tonight"
Gary Jules and Michael Andrews, cover of "Mad World"

11:15 a.m. edit: And the radio at my building's little cafe was just now playing "Killer Queen" by Queen. Keen!

No sillier than "Dooku"...

The Star Wars name meme! (As seen here)

Take the first three letters of your last name and the first two letters of your first name, and make that one word;

Then take the first two letters of your mother's maiden name and the first three letters of the city where you were born, and make that the next word.

Ladies and gentlemen, my Star Wars name would be Walch Nepor.

slipjig and other Terry Gilliam fans, watch this space

Terry Gilliam's The Imaginarium of Dr. Parnassus, despite IMDb's claim that the film has been shut down in the wake of Heath Ledger's death, is still being made. It will be reworked to retain the footage of Ledger already filmed.

Quick Stop Entertainment has clarification here.

The film also has an official site at http://www.doctorparnassus.com/; it will go live with content later. Watch for it.

Good Omens

Uncomfortable moment at my Sunday re-screening of Big Trouble in Little China: since it was a 2:00 p.m. showing, kids were allowed. And the trailers in front of the film still included the red-band Restricted Audiences Only trailer for Heavy Metal: The Movie.

Man, I'm glad I wasn't a parent attending with kids. As it was, I was contact-embarrassed enough that I sank down in my seat, avoided watching the screen, and held my fingers in my ears until the trailer ended.

By the way, I saw Heavy Metal once, in college, and hated hated hated it.
