The original Spaced coming to American DVD

Attention fellow Simon Pegg/Edgar Wright fans: You've probably already read Ain't It Cool News's reposting of it, but the original Wright-Pegg TV series Spaced is getting released in the U.S. on DVD in July. Both seasons, presumably unchanged (wasn't there a music rights issue that held up a DVD release before?). It's pricey, but from what I've heard that's a price for GEEKY GENIUS. (The show's format: portray the day-to-day lives of geeky Londoners as if they were the stars of some big Hollywood crowd-pleasing blockbuster. That was a perfect training ground for the guys who went on to make the Hollywood-tweaking Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz.)

The DVD set will include commentary by Wright, Pegg, co-star Jessica Hynes (nee Stevenson), and fans. The fans turn out to be people like Quentin Tarantino, Kevin Smith, actor and SNL performer Bill Hader, South Park's Matt Stone, comedian Patton Oswalt and Juno writer Diablo Cody. So this commentary should be both high-energy and high-verbal.

(Here's a UK fan site with that info and more.)

"So do you 'like her' like her, or just like her?"

There's a mutual admiration society going on. For reasons that would be boring to recite, I e-mailed Daria O'Neill about something related to her fellow DJs Cort and Fatboy. Turns out they like her show; turns out she likes theirs.

I've let both sides know. This is a little like passing notes back and forth in grade school to see if Person A thinks Person B is cute and wants to know what Person B thinks of Person A.
