Private Investigations, Once Upon a Time in the West...

Because kradical asked nicely, I'll do this:

- Choose a singer/band/group
- Answer the following questions using only titles of songs by that singer/band/group

I'll go with Mark Knopfler, both in and out of Dire Straits.

1. Are you male or female? "Stand Up Guy"
2. Describe yourself. "Quality Shoe"
3. What do people feel when they're around you? "Why Worry"
4. How would you describe your previous relationship? "Boom, Like That"
5. Describe your current relationship. "Single-Handed Sailor"
6. Where would you want to be now? "Twistin' By the Pool"
7. How do you feel about love? "We Can Get Wild"
8. What's your life like? "What It Is"
9. What would you ask for if you had only one wish? "Baloney Again"
10. Say something wise. "Don't Crash the Ambulance"

You're tagged if you feel like being tagged. I'm laid-back that way. Laid back like Knopfler's voice.

Good food and good people

A treat this midday: Mom and Dad drove into Portland and took me to lunch, at Old Wives' Tales. My third time there, their first, and all of us were happy with our feedings. I had an open-faced Greek Melt (feta, artichoke hearts, red peppers, tomatoes and Kalamata olives, which I don't usually like but which worked on this dish, all on dark rye) and the restaurant's signature Hungarian Mushroom Soup. I shared with them, and Mom shared her good gazpacho. Dad cracked that he'd once tried serving Mom cold tomato soup, but that didn't fly.

Good catching-up discussion, both before and during the meal, and they gave me suggestions for tech upgrades that might help me in my job hunt. After that, we drove up to Lloyd Center; they wound up not getting anything, while I bought the new mass market paperback of Daughter of Hounds* by Caitlin R. Kiernan (greygirlbeast) and Peter David's Tigerheart.

Meanwhile, I remain mustachioed. A good sign I need to shave, though, is that I burst out laughing each time I look in a mirror. I don't think I'm making the mustache my thing. (Dad's growing his back, though.)

* I'd convinced myself that I'd pre-ordered the book through Amazon, but I realized a day or two ago that I'd never finished the transaction so the book was not winging its way to me. So I winged my way to it!
