Meme, Day 10!

I'm back! And feeling more like writing about film and TV!

Day 10 - Favorite classic movie
This might seem like an obvious choice, but I'll always be glad Film Score Monthly's Jeff Bond pointed this out in the mid-90s: do you remember just how entertaining and fun Citizen Kane is? A lot of it is exuberant, just drunk on filmmaking technique. It has the weight of reputation on it, of Greatest Most Lauded Film Evar, and of course I've heard at least one person hate on the film because of that. (High school junior year. A fellow classmate kept loudly denouncing it while we watched clips, and also turning on the Sarcasti-tron when she said "Oh, I want to keep watching because this is SO GOOD..." AND THIS WAS A SMART PERSON. But she had to feel superior to it. How dare something be lauded!)

I could answer this a different way a different day each day for weeks, but that's my feeling now.

Day 10 - A show you thought you wouldn’t like but ended up loving
It took me a while to warm to the concept of Northern Exposure. Sounded like weak-sauce Twin Peaks. But I tried it eventually -- I admit some of that may have (may have been, I'm just saying) wanting to watch Janine Turner -- and got hooked. Later, during Spring Break 1993, my parents and I traveled in Washington State. We visited both Snoqualmie Falls, where Twin Peaks had been filmed, and Roslyn, where Northern Exposure was still filming (the main drag was preparing for a shoot that day, in fact). These stops made us all happy.

We Love Stereotypes!

More of the shit I write on Twitter:
Scott Weinberg: Welcome to another episode of WE LOVE STEREOTYPES! I'm your host Scott Weinberg, a cheap, greedy jew who runs the world's media.

Me: OK, which stereotype do I go with? I'm Swedish-Irish-Scottish.

Me: I guess I fuck, fight and drink. All at the same time.
