Me 2 (B&W)

Brief Christmas

And so that was Christmas...

It was a relaxing, low-key Christmas weekend: family, food, reading, and football.

What was the big excitement? Goats.

On Christmas Day, full-sized goats from neighbors across a stream got through an outer fence, walked along an inner fence around my parents' backyard, and wound up in my parents' front yard. Looking at us. I said towards them, "Don't eat my car."

Dad herded them back towards their yard and left a message with the two different homes where they might come from. Yes, that's life in the country, even just 30 miles from Portland, Oregon.

We got and gave nice gifts -- not many, as my family kept it a low-maintenance Christmas -- and the most Christmas-y thing I did was listen to Patrick Stewart's recitation of A Christmas Carol. "Darkness was cheap, and Scrooge liked it."

Talking more about Christmas would mean risking this not being brief. OK, until next time. Have a good week, people!
