“Right now you get my mellifluous tones because, due to a dial-up outage, I cannot get online from home at the moment. Yes, dial-up still exists and yes, I still use it.

Taking a day off, and will be back at work tomorrow, but in the meantime, I'm taking it easy to start. Just had breakfast. I had Action Eggs, because I was cooking them and I realized I was cooking it too high when the skillet was spitting bits of fried egg at me. So -- I have not been scarred! I have not been hurt by my eggs. [pause] Has anyone ever said that?

Anyway, I just wanted to check in and I'll be out and about, but: it's a good time to do a voice post. It's the only way I can get to you guys at the moment. But I'll be able to get to you guys in a little bit. Go out to a library computer. Anyway, hope that you are doing well and I'll talk to all you later. Bye.”

Good flicks + beer = WIN

Happening throughout this month in two theaters in Portland is BAM: Beer And Movies, curated by author Jacques Boyreau and Willamette Week's film critic Aaron Mesh. Check the schedule. Just over a week until the Academy Theater gets John Carpenter's They Live (1988), which I've seen but want (want, want) to see on a big screen with an audience. *hums that film's end title music* *also remembers its Roddy Piper-Keith David fight scene*

More films showing at both the Academy and (already started) the Laurelhurst, part of my town's great network of second-run theaters that are also pubs.

Impossible Things (before breakfast)

The car worked better with pulleys and legs than wheels. Huzzah!

It also helped to avoid the bridge backups by pogoing. Though the bounces on the other side of the Willamette were kind of hard to control (sorry I hit you, Big-Ass Sandwiches!).

Thankfully, the eye (not eyes, silly) in the back of my head winked saucily at just the right time to get a smile from that cute woman passing by Fabulous Jackpot Records, which made the whole stunt worthwhile.

Breakfast later. Gonna have me some sliced water on rye.

(This entry brought to you, obliquely, by my deep fondness for Terry Gilliam's The Adventures of Baron Munchausen.)

While I'm up, why not a Gratuitous Icon Post?

Hi. Don't have to be up as early tomorrow as planned, so I'm still up now.

Meanwhile, I got in the mood to get more icons from The Adventures of Baron Munchausen, one of my favorite films. So I made

and

and

which especially makes me smile, as I decided I could use a "Huh? Really? REALLY?!" icon.
