Whale fluke

(no subject)

In the Air...

The raindrop hovers.
It waits — somehow, impossibly,
As if gravity suddenly ignored it.
It shudders.
It wants to move; it wants not to wait
And it fights against whatever force has halted it,
---------------------------whatever force is pulling in this unexpected direction
------------------------------------------------------------in this surprising stasis.
It's surrounded by an air-flood of every other raindrop
Acting exactly as expected,
All racing to ground and asphalt and grass and bodies of water.
Do those other drops aim past that spot in the air
Where the raindrop's stuck? Maybe.
(Somehow, maybe.)

Something is stopped that shouldn't be stopped.
