Support your local schools! I do!

An errand and a good deed this afternoon: while walking to the Holgate library branch, I stopped at Marysville School, one of two Portland Public elementary schools near where I live, and dropped off an envelope of Labels For Education. I still assiduously collect those; for years, my habit's been to then take them to a school near me, usually alternating between a couple of them, spreading the (as it were) wealth. The woman at the office's front desk thanked me, both for bringing the labels and for already trimming them. That felt good to do.

I'm glad this worked. Here's why: I don't feel like digging out the blog entry where I mention this, but a couple of years ago I dropped off Labels For Education at the other elementary school near here, Arleta School, and the office staffers told me that very few parents brought them in. I wondered why, and I don't know why. It's such an easy thing to do, and it helps. Now I wonder how it varies from school to school.

Meanwhile, now I start collecting more labels...
