Captain Kris W'lash

LJ Idol Week 5: My solution may be imperfect.

I kind of wish this week's topic — "My enemies are all too familiar. They're the ones who used to call me friend." — were a lyric by Morrissey. In other words, someone who pissed off a lot of former friends (and fans) by how he was and how he is.

You can hear him singing it, can't you.

I've seen that situation. I've been in that situation. I still have trouble talking about this beyond emails I probably still have between me and a former friend, written by us as our friendship soured.

But they and I aren't enemies because we don't interact anymore at all. Blocks on social media (theirs and mine) and hundreds (thousands?) of miles of physical distance between us help with that.

And I'm not sure I have the energy to be someone's enemy. I realized recently that if I ran into a certain someone I once knew, I had one thing and one thing only I'd want to say to them: "I do not want to talk to you." Then walk away. That may, may, be healthier for me.

...also, I may have conflated a few people in this entry. May have.
