Poetry tonight: Thoughts about how we recall

Never All-Remembered
by Christopher Walsh, 11/5/2021-11/8/2021

Memory filters
The bric-a-brac past
To let us not think
We lived in a mess

The unsorted Is
Of earlier times
Gets remembered as Was
But fractionally —
The sliced hundredth-hundredth
Of what’s done, what we had
What we used and accomplished
In time now spent —

I recall some
They recall their own Some
You have your Some, too
And this overlaps — to an extent
Never completely, but somewhat (some What) —

Enough can be remembered
That it may make sense.
