Unsaid
by Christopher Walsh, 2/3/2020-3/16/2020

(Things not yet said to those who need the most to hear:)

If I know that you won't listen, why should I speak to you?
(There's a difference between "can't" and "won't.")
You should claim that mental gymnastics get you in shape.
(I was clear and didn't stutter. Not my fault you weren't listening.)
Who are you willing to throw under the bus?
(Fairness should not be so deeply frustrating.)
Most who go "what is this world coming to?"
don't care enough to do something about it.
(Zero-strikes-you're-out is convenient.)
It's not about you (but you'd prefer it did, right?).
(Someone saying "I'm not going to make it about me" will then do exactly that.)
You were looking for justifications, not reasons.
(...ya think that?! Huh?)
You don't have to make it about you.

I started my current in-progress poem back on August 15th. I haven't done more than fiddle with it. At one point in that lay-off where I wasn't doing…
