Water the Bamboo

I have one plant. I inherited it: it's a bamboo plant my mom had had at her last office job, and I've had it for years. It's still going.

While having a quiet day at home today, I gave the plant some attention. I took it into the kitchen, and looked at the three longest shoots. I trimmed two of those. One of them, I'm slightly embarrassed to say, had had green leaves on it until a couple of weeks ago, when I tried to pull a dead leaf off...and pulled off all the leaves at the end of that shoot instead. I'd left it as-is to see if leaves would come back. No sign any were, so: trimmed, now. As is a shoot that had what looked like zombie leaves growing out of it. And just one long shoot is left.

Luckily, other shoots are happening. One small shoot has even started on the back side of the plant, the side that sees much less light. Tenacious. I like to see that.

I watered the bamboo plant then and put it back on its perch, next to a high window in the living room, looking south.

I didn't want to do much today, honestly. But I could do that.
