A grab-bag:

After work, having been alerted by greyaenigma, I went to Pioneer Place downtown to the closing Borders Express store to make use of the 40%-off sale. What I purchased: Fight Club ('twill be my first reading of Chuck Palahniuk's fiction), Orwell's Animal Farm, The Count of Monte Cristo (thinking of the reference to it in The Shawshank Redemption), the first book of The Spiderwick Chronicles, and the Lemony Snicket miscellany The Beatrice Letters.

Tonight was the store's last night. A computer printout hanging behind the cash register said "Reason for Closing Du Jour: 'I've Never Seen Iowa.'" The workers seemed in a good mood, all things considered. I told the young woman who rung me up, "Best of luck from here." "Amen," she said.

Another reason I like Caitlin R. Kiernan: She can make the word unhelpfully funny.

Um. So to speak.

Monday night I get to see s00j again! Dawn and Patrick are hosting another house concert for her. Sooj'll have her guitar; she'll also have cellist Betsy from Gaia Consort. This will be a good time. I'm still debating whether to bring my camera or not.

I kind of wish I also had the time to go to the next night's show at a restaurant down in Keizer, but 80-100 miles round-trip on a work night would be a leeettle much.
