It's being investigated as a possible murder-suicide.
The larger-than-life spectacle of wrestling (the current WWE storyline -- now scrapped after this news broke -- was to pretend that Chairman Vince McMahon had "died") and the ugly, ugly fact that these three people are no longer with us for some mad, unknown and perhaps unknowable reason...that makes for one strange, sad stew of emotions (which is why this is the third time I've tried to write this entry). I can't imagine what their friends, colleagues and extended families are all feeling.
I'll be mad and overdramatic and say something unreasonable: Can dying young just stop? I mean, Chris Benoit was only 40. Nancy: 43. Their son: 7, and his death might be the most shocking part of this event.
It's times like this that make me glad Mick Foley, maybe my favorite wrestler, is still with us. Could it ever have been him, getting too-early memorials like this? I like to think not. I like to hope not.
People? Take care of yourselves. (I first wrote "People I like?" But that's too limiting.)

Noon Tuesday update: It might be uglier and worse than we wanted to think.
