"Expelliarmus!" "Gesundheit."

An idle thought, that came from talking to co-worker Amber earlier:

Could witches and wizards use spells to keep from getting sick? Because, you know, no one ever gets ill (not even a cold) in the Harry Potter books...

I don't think that's true. They certainly mention various magical illnesses, that at least one of the major characters had ostensibly come down with. St. Mungo's can't be entirely for curse victims, after all.

They may be able to magic away muggle germs and viruses, though.

Yeah, that's more what I meant; I wasn't clear enough. Kind of like how the common cold is almost nonexistent in the Star Trek universe (though one Starfleet officer does get it from a Cardassian).

Thank you for that icon, by the way. :-)

I don't think anyone gets a cold in Lord of the Rings, either... hmm.

Actually, there's quite a few colds in Star Trek, aren't there? Reg has one in that silly anti-evolution episode. And he seems to have caught it naturally.

I think it's just a collolary to how there are very few episodes focusing on times when nothing's happening. Colds are, by themselves, not very interesting. Or at least not fun to read or watch.
