Breaking my break (NaNoWriMo update)

I'd taken a couple of days off from National Novel Writing Month, on which I'm progressing slowly. I'm back on it now. I tried getting back on it Tuesday night, and was two sentences into new stuff when the annoyingly selective power outage happened in my building. I do have my NaNoWriMo novel on a private page of my LJ, so I can reach it from elsewhere, but I didn't make the time during breaks at work during the power mess to write more than a few more paragraphs. And then, last night, when I was turning the computer back on once power was back, my monitor acted dead. It refused to light up for more than three seconds at a time. I was seriously worried I'd blown it (it's an old monitor), and losing it would be the ultimate impediment to finishing NaNoWriMo this month. But after a while, it got on and stayed on.

So: progress tonight. How much? Find out later! LATER: I wrote 987 words tonight, so my total is now 4,428.

And my music for tonight's writing session has been James Horner's score to Glory and Danny Elfman's score to Nightbreed. Turned out to be good choices, especially the Elfman.
