Treats: driving, walking, fried-chicken-eating

I covered ground today. During the day, I got the bug to go somewhere I've never been before; I also wanted to drive more. (Last night was the first time I'd driven since the night I got a ticket on my way to the Tricky Pixie concert. I've felt the need to remind myself Dude, you can be a good driver; don't be scared into not-driving. Just drive carefully again.) So...

...I drove into Northwest, up Thurman Street, and across a particular old bridge* so I could walk through Macleay Park, which is in a corner of Forest Park, one of the largest urban parks in the U.S. There's a path along Balch Creek, the former water source for Portland, and I walked up it to the Stone House. Hiking and sweating were accomplished.

On my way back down the ravine Balch Creek flows through, I decided OK, I've sweated; I've earned a treat. That treat: Popeye's chicken, rice and beans, a biscuit, and way too much Sprite. I made a special trip to Northeast to get this to go (and spilled Sprite on myself for my trouble; I shouldn't have gotten that much Sprite in the first place).

The hiking means I should sleep niiiiiiiiicely tonight. Another treat!
*This Portland 'Bune article is the reason I knew about that bridge, by the way.
