I have Ghostbusters on my mind.

"Listen! You smell something?"
"You're right, no human being would stack books like this."
"That's a big Twinkie."
"Sorry, Venkman. I'm terrified beyond the capacity for rational thought."
"OK, who brought the dog--"BOOM
"You...will have saved the lives...of millions of registered voters."

I could go on, but I won't.

Tomorrow night, the Bagdad is showing Ghostbusters. Radio dudes Cort and Fatboy+, as usual for the first Friday each month, are hosting it (broadcasting from the Bagdad lobby, too).

I'm so there. One of the most quotable movies of the Eighties. I saw it back in '84 (in first release, before its re-release later that year where the posters said LET'S ALL GET SLIMED ONE MORE TIME) and the audience exploded more than once. Seeing this on a big screen again = JOY.

Trivia for you! Ghostbusters is the film Ivan Reitman directed instead of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, which Douglas Adams tried adapting for Reitman and his producers. That obviously didn't work out -- Adams said the producers really just wanted "Star Wars with jokes," and ultimately neither he nor the producers were happy with that script -- but we got an Eighties classic instead.

And did I mention quotable? "What a lovely singing voice you must have..."
+ Sorry, men, "Radio Gods" is already the title for Don Geronimo and Mike O'Meara. You can aspire to it, though! But for now, "Radio Dudes" sounds right.
