Who better for a story about stories? (An M. Night Shyamalan thought)

Maybe the best idea I've had lately: I'm among those thinking that filmmaker M. Night Shyamalan might be well-served by directing someone else's script. I also got thinking about how his film Lady in the Water was attempted Meta-Story, a story about stories, and then I thought Wait: what would the result be if Night filmed a Neil Gaiman script?

(I had the thought here (in this thread on this entry) by Shyamalan fan Caitlin R. Kiernan. I'd earlier wondered what a Night adaptation of Stephen King would be like, but decided that was almost too on-the-nose.)
