When I went walking tonight from 7:30 to 8:30 (6,000 steps!), I went past the northern edge of Oaks Bottom Wildlife Refuge. With little traffic on S.E. Milwaukie at the time, I could simply stand on the sidewalk and look into the darkness towards the Willamette River and marvel at how much noise the nocturnal and crepuscular creatures were making.
Soothing and worthy.
(Word today: Crepuscular: becoming active in the twilight. Yes, technically it was night, but I’m sure the creatures who had awakened soon before sundown were all like, “Hey, nocturnals. What up?”)
