S.J. “Sooj” Tucker sang. And there was much rejoicing (“h’ray…”).
Dawn and Patrick once again opened up their St. Johns home to me and our fellow weirdoes for a house concert Saturday, and Sooj (a.k.a.
s00j) delivered songs, laughs, and stamina. Seriously: she was on for over two hours. She’s one of those can-that-voice-come-from-that-person singers, like Jem or Joss Stone or, especially appropriate, Ani DiFranco – in fact I told Sooj’s boyfriend that I was really struck by the clever Ani-style songs she did. I’m listening to these songs now: I bought CDs of hers, two studio albums and a live performance. And not only did I buy the music plus make an admission donation, I will make another donation: photos I took at the show, for her use. I got some good shots. If they get online, I’ll link y’all to them.
I then slept the sleep of the dead, once I got home.
And today I took care of errands, walking and bussing to Excalibur Comics (to get back issues of Peter David and Caitlin R. Kiernan’s comics), Fred Meyer (to drop off Le Pictures De Sooj), a library branch, Things From Another World (geek eye candy!), back to Freddy’s to get the pictures, and Burgerville because I was craving a chocolate hazelnut milkshake. By the time I got home, I had walked 10,000 steps. And I’m not done walking yet today.
Sleeping the sleep of the dead is my goal tonight, too.
