People in my thoughts

People I know are fighting the good fight and staying the good long battle.

Poppy Z. Brite (docbrite) has been part of a vigil at New Orleans's Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church, and today was arrested for this. Poppy's home now, and will be in court tomorrow to plead Not Guilty. That fight to keep Doc's church open continues.

(Two stories on the arrests: here and here. The links are also at Doc's entry, along with photos.)

And S.J. "Sooj" Tucker (s00j) spent part of today at a hospital for tests to see what's causing her to hurt. She's also home, because nothing made the doctors want to do anytihng immediately; on Thursday, she'll know more about what's causing her problems. Meanwhile, fundraising to help pay for these hospital visits (and to make sure Sooj and her boyfriend omnisti have health insurance after this) is going on at saveours00j.

Simple request: Keep them and theirs in your thoughts, if you can. Neither fight's over.

(This ain't a flowery post. For a few reasons, the above two included, today's been kind of a draining day for me. Don't feel like writing much. I'll be better later, especially after food.)

A 1/7/09 edit brings word from Doc: "Just came from court. All charges against us were dropped, which I suppose is good, but it would have been great to have this go to trial and get the archbishop up on the stand."
